Does MGTOW Exist in Latin America?

As I wrote in this article here….

I answered the question of “do social justice warriors exist in Latin America?”

Well, I figured I might as well explore other similar topics about life in Latin America.

Because some folks do find it curious to think about…

“Does what exist in my home country exist down here also?”

Sometimes those questions are absurd as I wrote here in regards to how people sometimes question if basic things like “internet” or “cars” or “soap exist down here.

It’s true!

Some people really do think that!

But it’s more understandable to wonder if things like social justice warriors or MGTOW exist also…

So let’s break it down with a quick introduction as to what “MGTOW” is and then see if there are any examples of MGTOW existing in Latin America.

What is MGTOW?

I’ve always come to understand MGTOW as basically being a bunch of dudes who have decided to limit their interactions with women to whatever degree they personally are comfortable with.

Because you do have self-proclaimed MGTOWs who perhaps just don’t want any formal relationship but still hookup.

But all of them from what I have noticed will decide not to go into a relationship with cohabitation (including marriages).

Meanwhile, you have others who take it further and want to reduce any interaction with normal chicks in general.

That’s been my understanding anyway.

You have this biased article against MGTOW here that explains how there are different levels of MGTOW.

Yeah, the article is biased but I’m using it to get a description of what the levels are supposedly.

Level 0 - Situational Awareness: the member has "taken the red pill" and embraces the idea that gender equality is a lie and propaganda.

Level 1 - Rejection of Long-Term Relationships: the man rejects long-term relationships but will still partake in short-term relationships and sexual encounters.

Level 2 - Rejection of Short-Term Relationships: the member won't participate in hook-ups or any form of short-term or sexual relationships.

Level 3 - Economic Disengagement: a member at this stage refuses to earn more money than is necessary for sustaining life. He views the government as tyrannical and is trying to actively drain money from the bureaucrats.

Level 4 - Societal Disengagement: this is as far as a mainstream MGTOW can go. Here the man refuses to interact with society.

Anyway, I tried to find another definition of MGTOW that wasn’t my own so I’m going to use the most elite academic source Urban Dictionary as you can see here.

Though most of the definitions seem biased for or against MGTOW, I found this definition that looks to be as neutral as I could hope for.

“Men Going Their Own Way - a ideal that men don’t have to live by societal standards when it comes to the concept of relationships, marriage, or parenting. Men who live by MGTOW beliefs normally keep themselves focused on their own accomplishments and resign to commit to any relationships with women, long-term, or otherwise.

Here’s a funny video on MGTOW that I like just to add some humor here.

But let’s get to it now as if MGTOW exists in Latin America or not and my final thoughts as to how common it is down here.

MGTOW in Brazil, Argentina & Chile

Based on all of my research, it seems that these three countries have the most MGTOW interest by the locals.

As speculated by foreigners mostly it seems but also some resources that show interest by the locals in these countries.

So first, I included this video below here regarding the potential that people are seeing for MGTOW in Brazil.

For Chile, you have this article here discussing briefly MGTOW in Chile

And you have this source here that touches MGTOW in Argentina briefly.

With a MGTOW Twitter page for Chile that you can find here.

And a MGTOW Instagram page for Argentina here and a MGTOW Facebook page here in Argentina.

Plus, here are some final videos on MGTOW in Chile and Argentina. 

Anyway, that’s all the content I could find for those specific countries.

Like I said, they really seem to have the most MGTOW interest relative to most Latin American countries that you will find down here.

But now let’s cover briefly what I could find for other territories in Latin America below.

MGTOW in Puerto Rico

First, we have this Facebook page here dedicated to MGTOW in Puerto Rico.

Second, there seems to have been some controversy online regarding MGTOW folks from the US wanting to turn a piece of Puerto Rico into a land for MGTOW values as you can read here.

There are actual MGTOW articles on this subject as you can read here, here and here.

“Starting a MGTOW Nation.”

As to how serious this idea is doesn’t seem clear to me but that seems to be the extent to which there is MGTOW interest in Puerto Rico.

In this case, a lot less by the locals themselves and more by foreigners.

MGTOW in Costa Rica

First, we have this Facebook page here to some random MGTOW group in Costa Rica.

Second, there is this Costa Rican forum that you can see here where Costa Ricans talk about MGTOW in Costa Rica.

Third, I included some videos below here of MGTOW in Costa Rica that I could find.

Latin American Countries by Social Media

Most Latin American countries that I have come across don’t seem to have anyone talking about MGTOW being in their country.

In the section below this one, you can find the countries where I couldn’t find any mention of MGTOW.

But in this section that you are reading, I could only find signs of MGTOW by social media in the following respective countries.

• Guatemala
• Dominican Republic
• Colombia
• Ecuador
• Peru
• Bolivia
• Paraguay
• Uruguay
• Mexico
• Panama

Granted, for Mexico and Panama, supposedly there are some dudes coming across MGTOW ideas as you can see in these two videos here.

MGTOW in Guatemala

Though, to be fair, his channel doesn't have that many followers at all but it is something I suppose.

Latin American Countries with No Information

Based on my brief armchair investigative skills….

I couldn’t find any evidence of “MGTOW” groups (social media or otherwise) existing in the following Latin American countries:

• Venezuela
• Cuba
• Nicaragua
• Honduras
• El Salvador

Anyway, if you have any evidence of MGTOW groups or influence in those countries, let me know in the comment section below or by email.

Talk how even if no influence, surely some would exist but just don’t deal with it

Final Verdict

So based on my very brief armchair investigative skills…

It does seem like MGTOW has some roots in Latin America but it heavily depends on which part you are in.

For a vast majority of Latin American countries, it doesn’t look to be very strong whatsoever.

Essentially non-existent in most countries down here.

However, based on what I could find, it sure did seem a lot more popular in countries that are wealthier.

That was the trend I noticed.

Like how countries such as Argentina, Chile and Brazil seemed relatively stronger in terms of MGTOW presence.

With some alright amount of MGTOW presence in Mexico and Puerto Rico.

You also had other countries like Costa Rica or Panama where it seemed there was some MGTOW presence also.

Of course, just because I was able to find a video of “MGTOW in x country” doesn’t also necessarily mean it is that popular in said country.

It could also just be some random ass dude who agrees with MGTOW in say Panama but maybe nobody else really does in that country.

As an example anyway.

Also, in places like Puerto Rico, it seemed like a good deal of the MGTOW presence was foreign based instead of local based.

Meaning foreign MGTOW folks looking to escape the US or wherever to some part of the world where they can live their MGTOW life.

Either way, based on my initial impression, like I said, it seemed like MGTOW had a stronger presence in particularly Brazil, Chile and Argentina.

With Mexico and Puerto Rico a bit behind but with some presence themselves.

And I believe it will probably have a bigger influence in Latin America in the coming decades are countries become wealthier and even more urbanized in the future.

That’s just my theory anyway as it was my impression looking into this that the wealthier countries in Latin America have more of a MGTOW presence.

On top of that, it did appear to me that quite a few Latinos down here are at least aware of MGTOW given the amount of videos I could find in Spanish of random Latino folks giving their opinions on MGTOW.

So does MGTOW exist in Latin America?

Not as much as in the US but it has its following in certain countries.
